Information About SkyWire 01.10.2008

In today's fast-paced society, the ability to be connected to the outside world plays a vital role in your ability to succeed....whether it be in improving your education or building a business. One of the main vehicles used in this connection is... high-speed internet.

Unfortunately for Grant County, at the beginning of 2007, there remained a large portion of the population who were unable to take advantage of this opportunity. Outdated phone equipment or the cost of lengthy cable runs seemed to quarantine these people to the slow world of dial-up.

It was then that Williamstown Cable and Internet wondered...is it possible to use the same backbone of the system we're currently using for our customers, to help these people outside of the city limits? After much research, the answer was...Yes! And thus, SkyWire was born.

So, what does this mean to you? It means you have the assurance that SkyWire will be here to stay. The city of Williamstown has been operating utilities for over 80 years, and has been involved with communications (cable, and later, internet) as early as 1983. Unlike many businesses that may close their doors, or be influenced by out-of-state investors, SkyWire is backed by a local, municipal entity. In short, SkyWire has both stability and local input.

So, why are we doing it? Why spend hundreds of thousands of dollars for people who live outside of the Williamstown city limits? Because we know that as Grant County succeeds, everyone succeeds. Our future depends on the education of our children and the success of our businesses. We feel SkyWire offers the opportunity for both.

We hope you enjoy the benefits that SkyWire can provide, and we look forward to sharing a promising future together.
